Draco/Ginny Fic Recs

This list isn't complete anywhere near being completed; I will be adding to it as well as continuing to update it in the future. For example, you will note that I left out Davesmom's stuff :O Got that listed. Hunting down the rest!

I do want to make a disclaimer: I am not the person anyone should go to in search of D/G fics. Oh, I can give refer to you the D/G fics that are generally regarded as the classics, and I can tell you my favorites. But all this comes down is that the fics I've listed here are the fics I like best. This is my personal rec list. If I haven't listed something, it could very well be that I just haven't read it (as I was making this list, I realized just how little D/G I've actually read). It could also be that I liked it, but I don't consider it a reread. The fics I rec are fics I enjoy rereading, when I have a bad day, when I'm uninspired and not feeling D/G.

Also, an apology to the writers listed - I'm still going around to let everyone know where their fic has been listed because knowing that is nice, and also my feedback, if it hasn't been left already, will come in good time.

That's being said, I hope this list is useful to others beside me as a quick list of links that can get you where you want to go in two clicks or less :)

"Implication"

I'm about to have an early dinner with friends, so I'm going to make this quick. The Sarkney one shot I've been working on, formerly titled "Two Years." It also didn't turn out the way I thought it would, but I'm at a loss with it. If I take it somewhere else, I'll fix it up.

Title: Implication
Ship: Sarkney
Rating: R
Disclaimer: Alias and its characters belong to J.J. Abrams.
Warnings: S3, AU. This fic is all about what if Sark hadn't been incarcenated by the CIA for those two years?
Summary: Memory is more than sight or sound. Sark senses.

For my dear [info]streetscribbles, have heart, my dear.

Title: And We'll Run (An Easier Way)
Ship: Draco/Hermione
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Mild HBP spoilers. Took a canon HBP event and twisted it.
Summary: Sacrifices are made early on in the war.

"Economy In Love" Chapter Four

I've spent most of the day outside these past two days, so I didn't get the chance I thought I would to finish a few one-shots. But nothing happened today, so I worked hard and finished chapter four of Economy, "Two Years," a Sarkney one-shot, and got a good headstart on another HP fic I'm working on.

And during Italian the other night, I had an idea for a new D/G fic (although I just might make it Blaise, I'd really like to, but I don't know who I want to ship Blaise with), involving a carnivale in Venice, a sort of masquerade over a period of 10 days where everyone parties and drinks a lot and forgets their inhibitions. Must do more research on it.

I also added more to my D/G fic recs list, which is in the making. All in all, productive day!

Title: Economy In Love
Ship: Draco/Ginny
Rating: R
Summary: Ginny needles Draco, Draco feels poked at, and Blaise is Forced Into Doing Something He Does Not Want To Do (Again)

A Whole Lot of Fic In Small Pieces

I started to work on "The Secret Habits of Draco Malfoy," but halfway through, I quit because it wasn't turning out the way I wanted it to. So I thought, fine, to hell with that, I'm gonna write something today. Lost Causes / Stranger Still, my longer, WIP Sarkney, hadn't ever failed me yet, and I went to work on that...and found that I couldn't.

Because I felt vaguely guilty, I opened up Economy In Love Pt. 4 and stared at it. And then I actually began to work on it, which is, quite frankly, amazing. I've finally found the solution to the hole I dug.

And if this isn't a meme, it damn well should be. I think I did a meme like this before, actually. *ponders* But anyway, I just copied and pasted the last bit of what I wrote for each fic, and here it is, the lot of it. Minus two Sarkney fics that may not go anywhere, so I just left those out.

Cookies (but why? I like salted crackers and dip--salsa dip or sour cream and onion dip):

Economy In Love )

Lost Causes / Stranger Still )

Two Years )

Wild Horses )

Untitled Fic For The Summer Sarkney Challenge )

The Secret Habits of Draco Malfoy )

Untitled Bellatrix/Rodolphus Fic )

Untitled Sequel to The Best Subterfuge )

"Economy In Love" update should happen tomorrow, if I've nothing planned. I often don't know if I have plans until just before an event.

"Strange Customs in Far Places"

FINALLY! I did it! I wrote Sarkney! Please keep in mind that this is my first time reading these characters, although that really shouldn't be an excuse, seeing how many Sarkney fics I've read and compiled and reread and how many times I've watched the Sark and Sydney episodes :)

Title: Strange Customs in Far Places
Ship: Sarkney (Sark/Sydney)
Rating: M
Disclaimer: Alias and its characters belong to J.J. Abrams.
Summary: A woman has the right to want the dream.

Not Much On This End, "The Coldest Breed of Slytherin"

[info]bitterbarbs has a Waxing Lyrical challenge up! Sign ups run until July 30, so you have some time to think about whether you'd like to participate :) As for me, I'm hoping HBP will inspire me to write.

Speaking of challenges though, [info]dgficexchange is not dead. It is just...not open yet. There'll be a grand opening and whatnot soon, since I really, really want to read more D/G.

I have a test in Italian tonight, and I'm worried. Aghabh.

Okay, this here is the super long HP fic I've been writing since last December. I posted the prologue at GJ, along with several other snippets from it, all at GJ. It's currently at 50 pages or so on Word right now. Here are the following 15 pages after the prologue, which you don't have to read unless you want to get a feel for the setting and time period and tone or whatnot. Comments, concrit, feedback, thoughts, opinions, questions, anything, are all very welcome and appreciated.

Title: The Coldest Breed of Slytherin
Rating: PG-13 to R, but this section's safe
Ship: Draco/Ginny. Or is it. It may be Harry/Draco.

A/N: This is just the first 15 pages -- it's war time, and I wasn't sure whether I wanted to write Harry/Draco or Draco/Ginny, which is why Harry and Draco may seem unnaturally friendly and I hate that, not giving the explanation yet although this is one, I'm sure, haven't written it yet, all pre-build up to the slash. And yet there's a random Ginny scene thrown in there as well, prelude to the D/G goodness. If it seems very simple, it's because I was trying to lay down the bare bones of everything, move on, and intended to go back to work it over. In any event, I know there are many problems with this, and I'm probably not aware of just as many, but here it is, I wanted some opinions.

They want to get the Marauder’s Map, said Hermione. )

"I Never Saw Dancing Queen Performed Like That"

I wrote a Blaise drabble today for [info]blaise100. I was finally inspired.

Also! [info]onecrimsontie CAME BACK FROM NY! We thought last Saturday was the last time we'd see each other again, but no! Because of my procrastination in getting an Italian visa, I'm here for another week!

So in this past week, I've been had movie mania, worse so than usual :) I rented a lot of movies, mostly new stuff this year that I didn't get a chance to see when it was in theaters, but I also saw Batman Begins, which is as everyone else says: very good.

Speaking of movies, the trailer for Elizabethtown is out! Because I'm lazy, I shall point you over to [info]streetscribbles; she's linked it at her latest post. You can watch Orlando attempt to pull off an American accent, when he comes off as bleeding British. Very amusing. *adores*

LJ COCKTAIL PARTY!

My theme is, um, I don't know. It's a hodgepodge. I'm sorry. It's early, early Saturday morning for me. I'll wake up in a few moments!

See this post for more parties and this post for details :D

For the record, I ship: Draco/Ginny, Lucius/Narcissa, Fred/Hermione, Harry/Draco, primarily, from the HP fandom; Sarkney from the Alias fandom; and Rory/Logan from the Gilmore Girls fandom, but I'm so flexible, rec me anything, I'll give it a go :) I was going to write drabbles for each of my favorite ships, but I went to a banquet last night and accidentally fell asleep.

As for your part... )

Ask me any questions. I'll answer. Ask me to rec you a song, I'll upload it to YSI. Just tell me if you want a male or female artist (and genre, I suppose). I can't promise you'll like it, but I can give you a reason why it should be on your playlist :)

Give me a pairing, and I'll write you, at minimum, the first line of dialogue that occurs to me or a dialogue-based drabble, or - you know, whatever, anything goes! Or hey, you give me a line. I'll see if I can follow up on it :P

ETA: I uploaded 5 songs here for anyone who wants to go snag some. They're my favorite songs by the artists I've been pimping lately: Vienna Teng, Natalie Merchant, Rosie Thomas, Cyndi Thompson, and Alison Krauss.

ETA #2: I'm going shopping for awhile. Probably watch TV. Yep. I'm also going to check (for the fourth day in a row) to see if Alias S3 has been returned yet. The movie rental shop people hate me.

"Follow"

Title: "Follow"
Ship: Draco/Ginny
Rating: PG-13 (or whatever the equivilant is now; I'll look it up again later)
Summary: From one place to the next, it's always the same routine: a letter, a meeting, a memory modified.

A/N: Okay, so this plot occured to me first as the idea of Draco being like a sort of camp follower. I wanted to write it in sort of a minamalistic style, but I gave that up just because. Also, I have an exam on Monday, so if it feels unfinished, it's because I know, I had to leave it hanging a bit. I'll wrap it up some other time. It's also as polished as I'd like it to be.

All the precautions they took couldn't take away the risk. )

Oh yeah! I just made a post requesting the need for a brainstorm-beta for a Sarkney fic* at [info]proclivityfans. I wanted to link it here, too.

*Fear not, I have not forgotten my other WIPs. Those are still in progress, I just wanted to get the ball rolling on this one as well.

Sarkney Fic Recs

Oh God. You know that feeling when you're reading a good story? It feels like you're half dying and drowning and giddy and everything.

So I just had to take a break from reading Sarkney fics and make myself a Sarkney fic rec list. Thanks especially to [info]_citanul for getting me started on it all :)

This list will be updated.

Note to authors: I try to feedback every single piece I read, but sometimes, for whatever reason (many times it's because I can't curb the squeeing enough to write something rational), I don't. I'll get around to doing it on the re-read. Everything on this list is a re-read for me.

Sark Really Is Dangerous. Dammit. And "Cold Crush"

This is the fifth day of my Sarkney love. Still going strong.

I saw a Sark music video (I forget where - Pink-Martini.Net, I think) to Limp Bizkit's "Behind Blue Eyes". So then I realized that that song is so Sark that it borders on cheesy. It's like the redeemable!Sark song. I love it. But my dreams they aren't as empty / as my conscience seems to be

This is yet another pointless entry, mainly just because I really, really like Sark and had to talk about my liking for him. Yay. Stuck On Sark. SOS. Helllp.

Eugh. I really, really like this Sark icon I'm posting with. Going to see if there's a tutorial I can follow later.

Okay, so in HP news, I...did absolutely nothing. Except write this drabble.

Valentine's Day sixth set

Jenn: But how was Calcium Kid?
Leila: I told you!
Jenn: DISCOUNTING the Orlando-factor.
Leila: Oh fine. Then it was slow and corny.
Jenn: HAHAHA! HA!
Leila: Oh, shut up.

Leila: You know, in the movie, Orlando was to milk as Tom is to carp.
Jenn: HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
Leila: Yeah, it got kinda weird near the end, but then he winked at the very very end, so that made it all all right.

Leila: I love Orlando. Remember how I told you -
Jenn: Many times.
Leila: - when I had that dream/hallucination of him singing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and doing the sexy dance to boot and winking? Well, now I know how he really winks. And it was totally true to heart.
Jenn: Sigh.

And finally, fic. What I learned: I'm no good at writing Hermione. Anyway. This has gone so far past Valentine's Day, that it's a mockery to call it Valentine's Day ficlets. Nonetheless, for continuity's sake, I'll keep calling it that. I could just label it April Fool's ficlets, but I see no point. Also, am too lazy. Finished [info]tamlane and [info]shalei. Yay! And I'm nearly finished with all the rest, too *is pleased*

And heads up on all the cheese and corn you're about to get hit with. Fair warning. My excuse is that I'm still practicing with the fluff and it was written in the spirit of Valentine's Day. Ha.

Recipient: [info]tamlane
Message: I’m ashamed to say that other than the basics, I know nothing of Italy, its history, and Italians, but pretend, okay? "This Side of the Secret"

For [info]streetscribbles; this is her Christmas ficlet. I have to warn you, Bets, it's a little more on the angsty side than I would have liked to make it, but I didn't know how to make it more fluffy.

Sap, D/G Recs, & Strange Ways

Right, so I just bawled my eyes out watching the last half an hour of Armageddon on TV. I don't care if the movie is cheesy and clearly for entertainment, it moved me, dammit. And I love Billy Bob Thorton and Jason Isaacs in the film. Hardcore nerds. Gotta love that!

Yesterday, I Am Sam was on TV, and I cried watching that, too. And last week, when Return of the King was on, I cried every 10 minutes. When the beacons were lit, when Pippin had to leave Merry, when Aragorn was being trampled by the war troll and Legolas was trying to get to him but couldn't because everyone was getting in the way, and Theoden's speech, and Eowyn, and Aragorn's speech, and Elrond with Arwen. I am SUCH a sap when it comes to movies.

I know I fell out of the Fan Fic Author Appreciation thing, but if anyone's really interested in what I love to read, you can visit the writer's on my flist.

But My Favorite D/G Fics Of All Time Are... )

I'm usually pretty positive about fics I post, sometimes a little insecure, but never really negative about it (well, except for this BLECH D/G I wrote that is off the Internet and will never be posted again). However. Today I wrote the most boring, rambling piece of fic ever. It's also the longest one-shot I've ever written (I think), and it's about 3000 words all strung together and not in the good way. It's jerky and will read like it's unfinished and the Ginny/Sirius aspect of it could have been left out; it's that pointless and totally not integral to the story, but I'm sorry to say that I just gave up. And I'm serious.

Was vaguely inspired by this: “…the person Sirius cared most about in the world was you…the one person whom you would go to any lengths to rescue was Sirius Black.” - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JKR.

Title: "Strange Ways"
Ship: None, side Sirius/Ginny

Observations & Valentine's Day fifth set

I had a minimum stress level week, but I ended up being tired for almost every day. I've been thinking a lot, and I think that I work better in the wee hours of the morning when the entire apartment is quiet. I play my music quietly in my room, and I just sit on the bed and read or write or attempt to write or organize a drawer or add more clippings of funny anecdotes or comics to this notebook.

Of course, in the morning when I have to get up at 6 a.m., it really sucks.

Anyway, I went to sleep at 2 a.m. last night becaue Return of the King was on HBO, so I'm going to head off for a shower and bed in 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, continuation of the ficlets for my flist thing. Now there's no occasion, it's "just because." Finished drabble/ficlet hybrids for [info]inkpuddle and [info]spiffymissv.

Valentine's Day fourth set & Friday

[info]good_dg is a new Draco/Ginny fiction community that promises quality fics, so that's the community to friend for your D/G fix :)

Harry with the golden egg is a new still from GoF, in case anyone hasn't seen it yet.

So last night, I watched The Aviator. [MILDLY SPOILER-ISH] )

I just noticed, but for the past few days, despite the busy-ness with school, my first reflex is to always put "happy" down as my mood.

Right, so onto the fourth set of Valentine's Day drabble/ficlets (so much for the "I think it'll just be two installments" confidence *scoffs*). I think what I like about doing this is that I'm writing more and I've come to realize more how great and crazy talented the people on my flist are *is full of affection for flist*

I finished the ones for [info]whirligigged, [info]sionnain, and [info]wendybird7 today. Bellatrix and Rodolphus were completely new to me, but I'm pretty proud of the final product. And Bill, for some reason (I swear it's because of [info]greyskygirl), has become one of my favorite Weasleys to write. Same with Charlie after I reread OotP.

Message: Hee! You’re talented at writing fabulous fics that are darker than what I normally read, but somehow, they don’t depress me – instead, you’ve offered a different take on the dynamics of your characters and made me look twice at ships. So, clearly, I was always going to write Bella/Rodolphus for you, but I’ve been holding back because the ship scares me to death. In the end, I decided to opt for something as close to Death Eater fluff as I could.

Title: A Lack of Sangfroid

Valentine's Day third set

My paid account expired today - thank you, [info]bubbleforest! It was really fun just to see what it was like, and the 15 icons limit was love. Thank you so much! And I had some free time today at school, so I downloaded a few of Vienna Teng's songs. She's awesome. Although "Gravity" is my favorite (could be the Fitz/Fool relationship :D), her songs are really, really nice and lovely. Must remember to send them to you the next time I catch you online.

And I have a question - even though the paid account expired, I still have this Component layout - I know that I can't edit it anymore, but does anyone know if I switch layouts, can I still get back to using this one?

And onto the Valentine's Day drabbles/ficlets. I'm so not doing this in alphabetical order now. Anyway, I did [info]_citanul and [info]streetscribbles today, which was a novel experience - I've never written Fred/Hermione (and found I'm not so good at it) and Draco/Hermione - well, I've never been good at that ship either. And man - what the hell. My "Valentine's Day drabbles" are progressing into "post-Valentine's Days ficlets."

Yeah, I've only got three today ([info]fadedsouls, [info]pardonthelitany, [info]huffpuffkeeper) because I'm really tired and about to sleep. This may end up being more than three sets.

Okay, so yesterday’s messages weren’t that personalized, so I’m very sorry for that. Starting now, I’ll write my thoughts about each person in the message. I also tried to go alphabetical (yesterday I was all over the place), but I skipped some people for now because I couldn’t think of anything to write.

Plus, today I typed them in Word; yesterday I just typed them into LJ, and I caught loads of errors after I posted it. So yay to fewer mistakes!

And a note: you really don’t have to do or say anything in response to these drabbles. They’ve gotten me on this writing kick, and I’ve been inspired to both start and continue some new fics, and it’s all in good fun.
